Unlucky in Kentucky

Let's begin by saying that Sarab is a good driver. No, he's a great driver. He's safe, conscientious, and has stamina for days behind the wheel. He does, however, have a healthy fear of the middle line, and, by logical extension, cars passing him on the left or coming the other way.

We've gotten on his case for years about it, but it finally took a run-in with the law in the great state of Kentucky for him to change his ways. Fortunately, cameras were ready. And yes, we gave the cop a CD. He was psyched.

Brooklyn Bowl this Friday, May 21st! // CD Release Party!!

Look at Tricky Dick go! My high school English teacher, Barry Bergh, was a speechwriter for Nixon, and he was actually the one who ended up letting the FBI into the Oval Office to recover the Watergate tapes. My teacher therefore has gone down in history as "that son-of-a-bitch Bergh". True story. What a rockstar

But this is all beside the point! Our new album 'Loneliest Generation' is OUT in stores and SPINNING on the radio in at least a handful of cities so far. And YOU, yes you, can have one in your hot little hand if you come to our NYC CD Release Party at Brooklyn Bowl this Friday, May 21st! Comedian Craig Baldo is MCing the night, and Jupiter One will be opening the show. Showtime 9pm. It's gonna be an amazing night, and it's only $5 ADMISSION! Can't argue with that, folks.

And if you have to let the FBI into the venue at some point during the night, do it. You'll be upholding justice and sticking it to the man.

Progress

Progress is a tricky, often elusive thing. We at the Baby Jackal are always seeking ways to measure how far we've come over the years, musically, and generally in life. This weekend, upon doing my first flip of the season off the diving board, I believe I inadvertently charted my own personal progress over the last 4 years. Enjoy!

Our Last April Living Room Show This Week - Last week's roundup

I just like saying roundup. It's like we played a sportsball match where one team tried like hell to score more or less points or strokes than the other team and then eventually one team prevailed and everyone cheering for the losing team was really upset for about 3 hours until they got sleepy or hungry or happy or sad and then they moved on to something else.

So here's last week's ROUNDUP!!

9pm. Bases loaded. Harper Blynn plays a show. And the crowd goes wild. Schuyler Fisk and company were on deck, and stepped up to the plate to play after us. Pinch hitting was us again on all the other instruments. Again the crowd goes wild. There ya go! What a ROUNDUP!!!

Here's a picture. Come on out to see what will happen that needs to be rounded up for next week's ROUNDUP!!

Luv,
Pete

Harper Blynn and Schuyler Fisk at the Living Room tonight

Just over a year ago, when Harper Blynn was still called Pete and J, the two members of the band that weren't Pete or J went on a little road trip. The month of february '09 was a quiet one, so Sarab and I climbed aboard a rickety RV to join LA songstress Schuyler Fisk on her month-long tour around the US, opening for Ben Taylor. Highlights included Sarab almost losing his nose in an encounter with a glass door, the heat in the RV going out as soon as we hit Canada, discovering a jackalope, losing the keys to the RV and finally thawing out once we hit California. Sarab's mom gave him a bathrobe so he wouldn't freeze, which probably saved his life:

In September we joined Schuyler again when she got invited to Tokyo, Japan, for the release of her record there. Going there pretty much blew our minds. We ate many crazy things, including a few whole animals:

Cut to the present: Harper Blynn is in the middle of a residency at the Living Room in NYC, and for this week we invited Schuyler to come to New York and play a set right after us. This time our whole band is backing her up. It's gonna be epic. So that's tonight, wednesday April 21st. Harper Blynn is at 9 pm, Schuyler Fisk at 10. See you there.
